Leandro Medina Fellové, “EL INSURRECTO” was born on 17th February 1983
and here follows his artistic history:

In September 2000, he started as a Rap soloist: his first performances were mainly in small and private sets, but he began his professional career at the international festival ¨Habana Hip Hop¨, under the stage-name of ¨Insurrecto¨.

In 2001, he started his real job as a director and composer of a group playing Rap fusion with different genres of Cuban music, called ¨Clave Cuba¨. While in this group, he worked in settings such as: Macumba Habana, Salon Rosado de la Tropical and Tropicana, as well as in clubs like: Gato tuerto, Diablo tum tum, Café cantante mi Habana and Casas de la música de Miramar y galiano, sharing the stage with several prestigious and leading bands, such as: Adalberto Alvarez y su son, Jose Luis Cortes y NG la Banda, Paulo FG, Los tres de la Habana, Bamboleo, Juan Formel y los Van Van etc.

In 2003, he joined the group¨Piel canela¨ for one year, during which he participated in a show touring the country.

In that same year, “El Insurrecto” also joined the group ¨Batanga Sonoc¨ directed by Silvia Sea, founder of ¨Síntesis¨: they seized the opportunity of being the first band to feature rap as a part of the fusion which characterized them, by performing in the concert hall García Catarla of the auditorium Ämadeo Roldan.

At the end of 2004, he took part in a competition arranged by A.H.S., which was looking for the best rapper in Cuba: he was awarded the first prize and this allowed him to undertake his career as a rap soloist, sharing his job with leading rap groups such as Sexto sentido, Orisha, Obseción, Eddy-K etc.

He took the first steps in the genre that today characterizes him, within a fusion group with reggaeton, Triángulo oscuro, with which he worked in a show at the Karl Marx theatre on the 40th EGREM’s anniversary. Such a short-term participation was however useful as a springboard to join his present duo ¨Baby & Insurrecto¨: together with Tiralo ALE, they are the new members of the group CLAN 537.

At the moment, he is finishing his CD with CLAN 537, jointly with BABY LORES and TIRALO ALE, also featuring Pedrito Calvo (ex Van Van), Yenisel Valdes (singer of Los Van Van), El Indio (singer of Manolito Y Su Trabujo), Sr Rodriguez, Boris SOS, Vania (ex Bamboleo), José Luis Cortes “El Tosco” and Samuel Formell (director of Los Van Van).
